ABSTRACT Yanuita Pratiwi, NIM X7406053, EFFORTS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE USING ACCOUNTING LEARNING TEACHING AND LEARNING APPROACH CONTEXTUAL (CTL) STUDENT IN CLASS XI IPS 2 SMA NEGERI 2 KARANGANYAR ACADEMIC YEAR 2009 / 2010, Thesis. Surakarta: Faculty of Education and Pedagogy in March Eleven University of Surakarta, August 2010. The purpose of this research is to improve: 1) academic achievement in accounting through approach (CTL) IS 2nd XI class student SMA 2 Karanganyar; 2) the motivation of students in subjects Accounting student of XI class 2 IS 2 SMA approach Karanganyar with CTL; 3) student participation in study subjects Accounting student of XI class 2 IS 2 SMA Karanganyar with CTL approach. Implementation of research starts from the initial survey, the first cycle, second cycle, until the third cycle. Each cycle consists of four steps, namely This study uses classroom action research approach. Subjects in this study was class XI IPS 2 which amounts to 37 students with teacher collaborators Ikawati Rahayu, S. Pd. Implementation of action research conducted from prasiklus,, cycle 1 and cycle 2. Data collection techniques were applied, namely: 1) observation; 2) a simple questionnaire; 3) engineering evaluation / testing; and 4) documentation. Research procedure included three stages: 1) problem recognition stage; 2) the preparation phase of the action; 3) the preparation phase of the action plan; 4) phases of the implementation of the action; 5) phases of observation and interpretation of the act; 6) analysis and reflection on action; and 7) stages of preparation report. Implementation of research starts from the initial survey, the cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely: 1) planning action; 2) implementation of the action; 3) Observation and Interpretation; and 4) analysis and reflection. In this study, classroom teachers act as facilitators of learning and the role of the researcher as an observer.
Based on the results of this study concluded that there was an increase: 1) student achievement; 2) student motivation; and 3) participation of students in learning to follow accounting. The observation of the implementation of accounting teaching and learning process, obtained a picture of students' activities during the teaching and learning activities take place, namely: 1) follow apersepsi, amounting to 51.35% in the first cycle, 72.97% and on the second cycle; 2) Students who are active in the group during group work activities take place at 72.97% in the first cycle, and 81.08% in the second cycle; 3) Students who are active in the expression and ask questions during the learning take place accounting for 75.67% first cycle, and 75 , 67% in cycle II; 4) discussion activities, amounting to 72.97% in the first cycle, and 83.78% in cycle II. Improving students' learning ability is increasing on each cycle. Percentage of completeness in the first cycle learning outcomes of students in the learning of 72.97% or as many as 27 students and on the second cycle of 83.78% or as many as 31 students. This proves that with the implementation of the CTL approach to increase motivation, participation and learning achievement.
